Peters Creek resident Judith Faye Ramage, 62, died of heart failure Jan. 17, 2007, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage.

Judy was born Jan. 10, 1945, in Greenwood, Miss., to Roy Anthony and Marjorie Faye (Human) Tucker. She graduated from Whitehaven High School in 1963. She went on to complete beauty school and continued her college education throughout her entire life. She sought to learn something new every day.

Ms. Ramage came to Alaska in 1972. "She sought out the adventure and dream of living in the Last Frontier, which in those days as a single mom was just unheard of," her family said.

She worked at Enstar Natural Gas as a gas control dispatcher for the past 24 years.
Ms. Ramage was a member of the Alaska Pipe Trades UA Local 367 for 24 years.

She was a member and current treasurer of the Chugiak Range Riders, a member and current vice president of the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club, a past board member and 1986 board president of the Anchorage Community Mental Health Services, and a member of the Gassy Girls -- a Red Hat Society chapter. Ms. Ramage was an avid blood donor, donating more than 32 pints of blood and became a platelets donor to help those in need.

Judi will always be remembered for her brilliant personality, her generosity, her lively sense of humor, her willingness to help those in need, her love of animals and her love of family -- both natural and adopted. She had an incredible curiosity about life and the world. She was well-informed and conversant about almost everything: politics, the environment, natural resource development, history, science and other cultures.
There was no limit to her desire to continue learning and actively participate in life.

She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Faye Hawkins of Chimicum, Wash.; daughter, Ragan Anderson of Wasilla; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Calvin Ryan of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Roy Tucker Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Shelbi and Brandon Anderson of Wasilla; and many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Tennessee and Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Anthony Tucker Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to Peninsula Equine Therapy Inc., P.O. Box 1607, Soldotna 99669. A trust fund has been set up in Judi's name to help at-risk youths suffering from emotional distress with the assistance of the horses that she loved so much.
